The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 14.4 percent in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, more than 11 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the first month. Of this, 6.18 million tons were loaded and 4.91 million tons were unloaded.

“About 4.4 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the first month, which is an increase of 30.8 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 1.74 million tons crude of oil and oil products were unloaded, 2.66 million tons of were loaded over the reporting period. The loaded products increased by 13.4 percent, the unloaded products - by 45.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 2.11 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the 1st month. This is a decrease of 12.9 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Of this, 1.98 million tons were unloaded and 132,000 tons were loaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 651,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the first month. This is an increase of 89.6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 88,300 tons were unloaded and about 563,000 tons were loaded.

“During the 1st month, about 1.62 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in the Iranian ports, which is an increase of 20.1 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 20.5 tons were unloaded and 1.59 million tons were loaded,” the statistics said.

Moreover, 29,100 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month. This is an increase of 66.4 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 27,500 tons were unloaded and 1,610 tons were loaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 216,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the first month. The loaded and unloaded chemicals decreased by 45.5 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 108,000 tons were unloaded and about 108,000 tons were loaded.

At the same time, 28,900 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports. This is a decrease of 56.7 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 26,500 tons were unloaded and 2.440 tons were loaded, the statistics said.

“Furthermore, 443,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the first month, which is an increase of 101.5 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. About 223,000 tons of products were unloaded and 220,000 tons were loaded,” the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 1.58 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the 1st month. This is an increase of 5.6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 693,000 tons were unloaded and 894,000 tons were loaded.

Also, 5.5 million tons of cargo were exported and 2.56 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year, the statistics said.

“Over the reporting month, 189,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 260,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit,” the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 421,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 1.97 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage within the first month. As well, 64,200 tons of cargo were loaded and 59,200 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

A total of 4,550 tons of cargo were loaded and 54,400 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes during the 1st month of the current Iranian year, the statistics said.
