Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev held consultations on the early elections to the Majilis of the Parliament with Prime Minister Karim Masimov, chairman of the Kazakh Senate Kairat Mami, Chairman of the Majilis of Parliament Ural Mukhamedzhanov, the presidential press-service said today.
"The Prime Minister and chairmen of the chambers of the Parliament supported the decision to dissolve the Majlis and hold early elections to the lower house of the parliament," the press release said.
"Taking into account your position on this issue, I will consider a draft decree to dissolve the Majlis and to conduct the elections", the president said.
MPs explain their appeal by several factors, the president said.
"First, according to the amended constitution, there must be no less than two political parties in the Majilis," the message said. "A reform of the political system was conducted. For the first time, MPs were elected by party lists in Central Asia."
Second, Kazakhstan experienced the most difficult global economic crisis of 2008-2009. The country and the world have just overcome it. The world economy is in a strong volatile state.
"One can not say that the economy is stabilizing," the President said. "The events in the European Union directly affect us. We are preparing for all possible scenarios."
The President said that the Majilis of the current convocation experienced global crisis. Serious decisions were made quickly, without damaging the quality of laws.
