Russian and Kazakh Presidents to discuss integration issues

By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss integration issues within the emerging Eurasian Economic Union during a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Russian presidency reported.

The meeting will be part of Vladimir Putin's visit to Kazakhstan. He will come to the Kazakh city of Atyrau to take part in the Eleventh forum on interregional cooperation between the two countries on Sept. 30.

Within the bilateral meeting the parties will also discuss topical issues of Russian-Kazakh relations and several bilateral agreements, including agreements on cooperation between the Russian and Kazakh regions will be signed.

Innovations in the hydrocarbon industry will be the topic of the future forum on interregional cooperation.

Heads of key ministries, departments, and regions and representatives of big business of both countries will be among the forum's participants

Annual meetings between the representatives of Russia and Kazakhstan in this format have been taking place since 2003. The last forum was held in Russian city of Yekaterinburg.

The Eurasian Economic Union, also known as the Eurasian Union, is an economic union which is planned to be established by a treaty signed in May 2014 between the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The Union will officially go into effect on 1 January 2015.
