Kazakhstan's annual inflation up in February 2022

The annual inflation rate grew in Kazakhstan in February 2022 amid the rising prices for all components of inflation, Trend reports referring to the National Bank of Kazakhstan.

In the reporting month, this figure equaled 8.7 percent compared to 8.5 percent recorded in January this year.

Food prices grew by 10 percent (compared to 9.9 percent in January this year) due to the rise of prices for bakery products, cereals and vegetables. Non-food inflation increased to 8.6 percent (against 8.5 percent a month before).

Prices for household appliances, furniture and household goods was rising strongly. Under the conditions of temporary regulation of prices for gasoline and diesel fuel, disinflation is observed in the fuel and lubricants market. However, the annual growth rate of prices for the fuel and lubricants was still high (22.1 percent).

Paid services in February 2022 grew by 7.1 percent (compared to 6.8 percent in February 2021) due to increase in prices for certain market services. The cost of rental housing rose by 20.7 percent year on year. At the same time, amid a moratorium on price increases, the growth rate of gas prices slowed down to 5.4 percent (compared to 12.9 percent in December 2021).
