Turkmenistan sums up results of elections to local government

The Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan (CEC) announced the results of the election to local government and to the two constituencies - members of the national parliament, which took place on August 20 in all regions of the country.

The Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan (CEC) announced the results of the election to local government and to the two constituencies - members of the national parliament, which took place on August 20 in all regions of the country.

The CEC noted that the elections to the local government are declared valid. Thus, 6099 people out of 12,309 candidates are elected. Including Akhal region - 1049, Balkan - 406 Dashoguz - 1412, Lebap - 1446 and Mary Province - 1786 members of local government.

The report said that two or more candidates claimed for the mandate of each of the representative bodies of democracy. A re-vote will be in the electoral district No. 2 of local government of Garagach Etrek district of Balkan region, because none of the three candidates was able to receive the required number of votes.

Elections of national parliamentarians, held in two constituencies were also declared valid.
