BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is supporting Turkmenistan in the preparation of a feasibility study of the Turkmenabat-Mary-Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi railway line, Trend reports via Business Turkmenistan news agency.

This was stated by the Director of the Permanent Mission of the ADB in Turkmenistan Artur Andrysiak at the conference "International Transport and Transit Corridors: interconnection and development".

According to him, ADB's support is aimed at improving the efficiency of passenger and cargo transportation along the 1,147-kilometer line, which will connect all international corridors passing through Turkmenistan.

"We hope that in close cooperation with the Turkmen Railways Agency, we will be able to submit the first project loan for approval by the ADB Board of Directors early next year," Andrysiak said.

Furthermore, he noted that a project is currently being prepared, where at the initial stages the main attention will be paid to the modernization of the 170-kilometer section of the Ashgabat-Dushak railway line.
