Uzbek Foreign Ministry delegation will take part in meeting of "Central Asia plus Japan" dialogue

A delegation of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry will take part in the seventh meeting of senior officials of the "Central Asia plus Japan" dialogue in Bishkek, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported today.

A delegation of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry will take part in the seventh meeting of senior officials of the "Central Asia plus Japan" dialogue in Bishkek, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported today.

The cooperation prospects in trade-economic, investment, environmental, agricultural and tourism sectors are planned to be discussed at the meeting. The views on regional security issues will be exchanged.

The "Central Asia plus Japan" dialogue was initiated by Tokyo in 2004 to intensify the interaction with the region. Three meetings of Foreign Ministers (2004, 2006 and 2010), six meetings of the executive level of the participating countries have been held.

The sixth meeting of senior officials of the "Central Asia plus Japan " dialogue was held in Tokyo in December 2011.

A delegation of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Japan attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of regional cooperation in trade and investments, regional security, the fight against extremism and drug trafficking, transport and communications, energy, health and environmental protection, as well as issues of joint involvement of the economic potential of Central Asia, Kazakhstan and Japan to the restoration of Afghanistan.
