Executive structure of Uzbekistan’s Cabinet of Ministers has been reorganized, and a ministry and new complexes have been established in the country.

The changes are reflected in the presidential decree “On additional measures to improve the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, dated Nov. 27, 2017.

According to the press service of the Uzbek president, under the decree, the Cabinet of the Ministers has introduced the posts of deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan – head of the Complex for investment, innovative development, coordination of free economic and small industrial zones, tourism, deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan – head of the Complex for education, healthcare, ecology, environmental protection, physical culture and sports.

Meanwhile, the Ministry for Innovative Development of Uzbekistan has been created.

Moreover, the Uzbek president has appointed new ministers of economy and of finance, according to media reports.

Thus, the number of Uzbekistan’s deputy prime ministers has reached eight.

A meeting, chaired by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was dedicated to the changes in the government’s structure.

President Mirziyoyev noted that many problems worrying the population should be solved. Making a critical analysis, the Uzbek president said that the majority of leaders allowed such facts as the weakening of order, discipline and responsibility, the inability to organize their work on the basis of contemporary demands, indifferent and negligent attitude towards their official duties, which negatively affects the overall effectiveness.

Such issues as ensuring the sustainable development of economic sectors, including the implementation of a strict monetary policy, the intensification of activities of free economic and small industrial zones, the broad attraction of foreign investments, the creation of modern industrial enterprises and new jobs, the expansion of the revenue base of local budgets, the formation of an effective tax policy, the targeted use of budgetary funds and the improvement of the system of state statistics.

President Mirziyoyev also touched upon the tasks related to the issues of education, healthcare, ecology and environmental protection, culture and art, physical culture and sports, youth and women.
