Uzbekistan reduces tariffs for commercial banks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Dec. 18

Tariffs for commercial banks have been reduced in Uzbekistan the Association of Banks of the country said in a statement.

Of the 187 types of banking services, 63 types of services are provided free of charge, while tariffs for other 86 services are reduced from 15 to 95 percent.

In addition, 7 types of banking services, established in foreign currency, are transferred to the national currency.

Decrease in tariffs for commercial banks' services is due to a set of measures approved by the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures for further development and enhancing the stability of the banking system of the Republic" of September 12.

According to the presidential decree of June 16, the state share in the authorized capitals of commercial banks of Uzbekistan was increased by the equivalent of $500 million at the expense of the country's Fund for Reconstruction and Development (FRDU). This is aimed at maintaining the level of capitalization of commercial banks.
