It is necessary to found a new town, the head of the Tehran's Islamic City Council, Mehdi Chamran, said, FARS information agency reported.
"The Iranian consultation council has approved the project. Tehran must be transferred upon this plan. I think that it would be more reasonable to found a new town instead of transferring the capital to the other town," Chamran said.
He said that plans on construction have not been fully implemented yet.
"I hope that necessary funds will be allocated for realization of the project to construct a new capital. The problems of Tehran's population will be solved," Chamran said.
