Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad congratulated presidents of Christian countries with Christmas and New Year, Iran's television IRIBNEWS website reported.

"It goes without saying that all the prophets led mankind towards the achievement of happiness and perfection, eternal peace, justice and friendship. The financial crisis, disturbing the world community today, social, political and moral shortcomings became the result of the fact that people have moved away from this path," the letter said.

"I express hope that 2010 will be a year of spirituality, morality, justice growth and establishment of stability," Ahmadinejad's congratulatory letter said.
