Azerbaijani-based Trend International News Agency attends the 17th Festival of the international press and news agencies in Tehran. The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Husseini and representatives of the Ministry attended the opening ceremony on Monday.

At the opening ceremony, Iran's Deputy Culture Minister on Press Mohammad Ali Ramin said that this year's festival runs at a higher level compared with the last year. According to him, the last festival contained only 480 pavilions, while there are 600 pavilions at this year's festival, and it is planned to increase the number to 780.

According to Ramin, 2,400 media outlets operate in Iran, and they all participate in the festival. 1,600 provincial newspapers have sent their representatives. For the first time, the festival is attended by student newspapers, which total 300 in Iran. Of those, 200 newspapers are represented at the festival.

According to him, last year's festival was attended by 44 media outlets from 28 countries and 74 guests. "This year's festival is attended by 175 media outlets from 55 countries and 250 guests. About 200 of them are already participating in the festival," said the official.
