Half of registered candidates approved for Iran's parliamentary elections
Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 28 /T. Jafarov /
Guardian Council of the Constitution approved more than half of the registered candidates to the Iranian Parliament, a spokesman for the Council announced Saturday, ISNA news agency reported.
According to Abbas-Ali Kadkhodai, the Guardian Council approved more than 2,700 of 4,877 registered candidates.
Kadhodai also said that those candidates who were not approved can file complaints to the Council until February 10. According to him, in most cases the reason for denial was that a candidate has not submitted the required documents on time.
On February 10, the Council will publish the final list of candidates eligible to participate in parliamentary elections, he said.
The elections will be held on March 2.
