The Iranian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has instructed the Central Bank to prohibit clients of the banking system from using emails which are based on foreign-host servers.

Communication and Information Technology Minister Reza Taqipour has sent a letter to Central Bank Governor Mahmoud Bahmani, instructing him to inform clients not to use Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and MSN emails while opening accounts, the Fars News Agency reported.

Only emails which are based on local-host servers will be accepted, the report added.
