International sanctions against Iran are making things hard for Iran's date growers, the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) reports.

The result of Iran's standoff with the West over its nuclear programme, the sanctions led by the U.S. and the targeting of Iran's central bank and its oil industry has made international transactions nearly impossible.

Today, the country's date exports are getting to their final destination after passing through intermediate ports or countries but banking restrictions have made it hard for date growers to get paid.

In spite of these obstacles, Iran's growing date exports make their way to North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
