The 2011 exports of seafood from Iran's Mazandaran Province grew 64 per cent in value over 2010 exports. The northern province sits on the Caspian Sea's southern border.
Mazandaran exported 55 per cent of its carp catch, 35.5 per cent of its silver carp and 10 per cent of its grass carp to Iraq last year, the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) reports.
The exports were worth $13.6 million, said Hassan Habibnejad the head of Mazandaran's fisheries organisation.
