The largest crude oil desalination plant in the Middle East will be inaugurated next year in Iran, the managing director of Karoun Oil and Gas Company stated.
The plant will have the capacity of desalinating 220,000 barrels of oil per day, Mohsen Dehanzadeh said, the IRIB reported.
Construction operations have been completed by 40 per cent, he said, adding that some 700 required parts have been domestically made.
Dehanzadeh said in April that the company produced 1.042 million barrels per day (mbpd) of crude oil in the past calendar year which ended on March 19, showing an increase of 5000 barrels per day compared to the previous year.
The Mehr news agency quoted him as saying that some 20.7 million cubic meters of oil associated natural gas was also produced last year.
