He expressed hope that sustainable peace and stability would be established in Afghanistan, saying that Afghan security affects the regional peace and stability, IRNA newsa gency reported.

Stressing that the two countries are neighbors, he emphasized, "The will of the Iranian government and nation is establishment of good and brotherly relations with neighboring countries, and particularly with Afghanistan, aimed at securing both sides interests."

Rohani, meanwhile, considered the presence of alien forces in the region, and particularly in Afghanistan, as a cause for expansion of extremism and expressed hope that their presence would end and the fate of the regional countries, and particularly Afghanistan, would be back in the hands of the nations and their governments.

He appreciated the presence of President Karzai at his swearing-in ceremony and considered that presence as a sign for Tehran and Kabul's strong will for broadening and strengthening comprehensive bilateral ties.

The president of Afghanistan, too, in the meeting appreciated the rendered hospitality of the Iranian government and nation, saying that the Iranian government and nation have always warmly received the Afghan citizens.

President Karzai also asked for the expansion and strengthening of comprehensive bilateral relations.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran's role in promotion and establishment of peace, stability and security in the region, including Afghanistan, is significant and important.

President Hamid Karzai, meanwhile, invited President Rohani to visit Afghanistan at his earliest convenient opportunity.

Rohani had before his meeting with the Afghan president met and conferred with the presidents of China, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.

The president of Islamic Republic of Iran is scheduled to give and address at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit on the second day of his presence in Bishkek on Friday, and meet with the presidents of Russia, Tajikistan and Mongolia on the sidelines of the summit meeting.
