G8 leaders convene for final day of St. Petersburg summit

(RIA Novosti) - Leaders of the Group of Eight industrialized nations and heads of prominent international organizations have gathered for a meeting in St. Petersburg on the third and final day of the G8 summit.

The officials convened in the Constantine Palace in Strelna, a St. Petersburg suburb, and after the session they will continue discussing the issues on the summit's agenda during a breakfast, reports Trend.

The summit is held in St. Petersburg as Russia this year holds the presidency of the G8, which also includes the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Canada.

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed ElBaradei and Executive Director of the International Energy Agency Claude Mandil are also attending the summit.
