European Parliament to vote resolution on women's rights in Turkey

(www.cihannews.com) вЂ" European Parliament (EP) General Assembly is scheduled to convene on Tuesday in another meeting to vote a resolution on women's rights in Turkey and amendments to it.

The resolution prepared by Emine Bozkurt, a Dutch MEP of Turkish origin, was debated in the EP on Monday.

It was stressed in the report that Turkey's legal reforms on women's rights were satisfying and it called for obviation the lack of implementation of the laws concerning women's rights.

The report stated that the respect for human rights including women's rights was a precondition for Turkey's EU membership, reports Trend.

The report also stresses the importance of acceleration of implementation of the legislation and it also stated that the laws should be put into force within the framework of the EU acquis communitaire.
