Iran is keen to use Nokia's expertise to improve its information and communications technology (ICT) sector, Mahmoud Vaezi, Iran's ICT minister said.
Vaezi made the remarks after a meeting with the visiting Foreign Trade Minister of Finland Lenita Toivakka in Tehran, Fars news agency reported Dec. 9.
Nokia is a well-known company which has a cooperation history with Iran, long years ago, Vaezi said, expressing hope that the company would resume its activities in Iran.
Iran can develop its ICT sector via cooperation with Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent, the Iranian minister said.
Nokia and its French-American rival Alcatel-Lucent announced their intention to combine to create an innovation leader in next generation technology and services for an IP connected world. The two companies is expected to finalize the union in early 2016.
Vaezi further said that the ICT cooperation between Iran and Finland will increase in the areas of software as well as research and development.
He welcomed Finnish companies' achievements in the field of ICT inviting the companies to take part in various ICT-related projects in Iran.
'It was decided that private sectors of the two countries will meet during the on-going visit of the 100-member delegation from Finland,' Vaezi said.
The Finnish minister, in turn, expressed Finland's readiness to raise the level of cooperation with Iran in modern and clean technologies.
Heading a 100-member delegation, representing 70 companies in the sector of industry, which are advanced and all interested in environment, health, forestry and education, Toivakka arrived in Tehran Dec. 7 to discuss boosting mutual ties in Iran's post-sanctions period.
