Germany, Iran ink co-op document on railways

German DB International Company signed a document with Iran to provide services for Iran Railways.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by managing director of Iranian Railways, Mohsen Pour Seyed Aghaei and Niko Warbanoff, chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of the DB International in Tehran Feb. 23, Iran's IRNA news agency reported.

Under the document the German company will help the Iranian Railways to modify its software and implement organizational development plan.

On the sidelines of the signing the document, Pour Seyed Aghaei said that with the implementation of the MoU and modifying the organization's structure, fundamental changes is expected in the fields of railway transport of the country.

By improving the Iranian Railways' capabilities in human resources training and review of the organization's systems' engineering, the Iranian Railways will be able to compete in global transportation market.

Over 83 projects will be implemented within the signed MoU in the next three years, the Iranian official said, adding more agreements are expected once the DB International representatives submitted proposals on modifying the structure of the Iranian Railways.
