Iranian government has allocated $2 billion to purchase 2,000 railroad cars by the end of next summer, deputy minister of interior, Houshang Khandan said Jan. 3.

Earlier, Fardad Daliri, executive vice president at the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran, known as IDRO Group, said that the company is going to help build 2,000 railroad cars.

“The railroad cars will be built with a domestic share of 55 percent and will be used in nine large cities of the country,” IRNA news agency quoted him as saying Nov. 23 last year.

Khandad also said that some 40,000 taxi vehicles in Iran have been renewed since mid-2013, when President Hassan Rouhani took office.
