Iran’s iron ore concentrate output hits 12mln tons

Iran’s major state-run iron ore companies have produced about 12.45 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the first four months of the current fiscal year (March 20-July 21).

The figure indicates a 28-percent increase compared to the preceding year, the Islamic Republic’s Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported on Aug. 19.

Gol Gohar Iron Ore Co. ranked first, producing 4.46 million tons of iron ore concentrate followed by Chadormalou with 2.8 million tons of production.

Markazi (1.565 million tons), Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (1.26 million tons), Gohar Zamin(1.41 million tons) and Sangan (711,715 tons) were amongst the other leading iron ore concentrate producers.

The report did not include the volume of iron ore produced by the private sector companies, which produce total of 14 million tons of iron ore annually.

The aforementioned companies have produced total of 1.876 million tons (8 percent fall, year-on-year) of iron ore granule in the first four months of the current fiscal year.

Iran’s total iron ore reserve stands at 5.1 billion tons, of which 2.8 billion tons are proven.
