Iran has failed to fulfill its plans on exporting worth of $50 billion of oil products over the current fiscal year (starting March 20), an official said.

Hamid Hosseini, the spokesperson of the union for the exports of oil, gas and petrochemicals, has said that the delay in the overhaul operation of four phases of 15-18 in the South Pars gas field was a main reason behind the failure to increase the country’s exports of oil products.

Addressing a press conference in Tehran, he added that the country’s exports of diesel slumped due to shortcomings in Iran’s gas oil supply which caused the National Iranian Oil Company to reduce its share from the markets of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The official said that the volume of the exports of oil products has dropped over the current year, but he declined to provide the accurate figures.

Iran’s annual exports of oil products over the last several year accounted to $50 billion.
