Iran has devised plans to boost the production of aluminum in the country in the coming years, a senior official said.

The deputy head of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation (IMIDRO), Ardeshir Sad Mohammadi, has said that the country is planning to spend $6 billion on developing its aluminum industry.

Speaking at an international conference on aluminum in Tehran, he said that “the south aluminum project” is among the major under construction projects in the country.

He expressed hope that the project will come on the stream in the early months of the coming fiscal year which starts on March 21, 2019.

Ardeshir Sad Mohammadi forecasted that the country’s output of aluminum ingot over the coming two years would reach 800,000 tons.
