As many as 368 billion cubic meters (13 trillion cubic feet) of gas may be extracted from Iran’s newly discovered Eram gas field, Deputy Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company Reza Dehghan said, Trend reports citing ISNA.

Dehghan noted that the explored gas field contains 538 billion cubic meters (19 trillion cubic feet) of gas.

The deputy director added that the gas field is located 200 km south of Iran’s Shiraz city, and 60 km north of Iran’s Asalouyeh city.

Dehghan said that the gas reserves of the Eram field are nearly equal to the reserves of Phase 1 of the South Pars gas field.

Saleh Hendi, director for exploration operations at the National Iranian Oil Company, has recently said that one gas and one oil field were discovered in Iran.

The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field owned by Iran and Qatar. The field is said to have 51 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves and it is possible to extract 36 trillion cubic meters of gas from this field.
