Plants of Zarand Iranian Steel Co. to be connected to railway network

The Zarand Iranian Steel Co.'s plants in Iran's southeastern province of Kerman will be connected to the country's railway network after completion of construction work, the executive director of the company's railway project Babak Salajegha said at the ceremony on the start of laying the rails, Trend reports via IRNA.

Zarand Iranian Steel Co. has spent 450 billion rials (roughly $10.7 million) on the railways, that will have a total length of 143 kilometers, the executive director said, adding that the commissioning of this railway will allow to transport 4 million tons of concentrate and pellets and 4 million tons of iron ore per year.

The Head of Kerman Railways Majeed Arjouni noted that the railway from Jalalabad railway station to the company's plants will be completed by the end of June 2020 and over 1.4 trillion rials (roughly $34 million) will have spent on it.
