Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has terminated the agreement on international legal guarantees of the independent and running of Mir Interstate TV and Radio Company's activity upon the decree of April 18.

"The agreement that had previously been signed in Ashgabat on December 24, 1993 should be terminated, the presidential decree has stated as published on the website of the Legislative Herald of Georgia on April 19.

According to the decree, the Georgian Foreign Ministry will notify the depositary of the termination of the agreement, News-Georgia reported.

The Mir Interstate TV and Radio Company established in 1992 was by the agreement of the presidents of the CIS member states. The company's national branches are located in nine countries and in particular, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Russia.

According to the agreement, member states had to provide Mir TV and Radio Company, its officials and representatives with privileges and immunities necessary to ensure the company's activity in accordance with its statutory objectives.
