Georgia will have a new president and current Prime Minister, Georgian Ambassador to the U.S. Temur Yakobashvili said at the forum "America-Georgia" today.

"Georgia will have a new president," he said. "He will not be transferred to the post of prime minister. We have a Prime Minister. If the ruling party wins the elections, he will remain in the post for the next 4 years. Georgia will have much more powerful Prime Minister."

He added that the parliamentary elections are one of the most important stages in Georgia's development. These are not ordinary elections.

Executive director at the Atlantic Council of Georgia Giorgi Muchaidze and representative of the U.S Council on Foreign Relations Joshua Walker have discussed the pre-election situation in Georgia.

The parliamentary elections will be held in Georgia on Oct. 1.
