Georgian consul to Barcelona Paata Papuashvili has resigned due to torture records spread by mass media. This was said in Papuashvili's report.
"I'd like to express my condolences over the mass tortures of prisoners and share the public resentment in this regard. I'd like to leave my position in protest again violence and solidarity with victims", the report noted.

The protest marches occurred around Georgia within several days due to prisoner tortures, which were shown by opposition channels.
Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs Bachana Akhalaya, who served as the chief of department on penal execution at Georgian Ministry of Justice, resigned due to the scandal.
Previously, Georgian PM Vano Merabishvili has granted resignation of the Minister on penalty execution, probation and juridical support Khatuna Kalmakhelidze.
