Former Georgian Defence Minister Dmitri Shashkin confirmed that he has left the country.
According to the information on Shashkin's Facebook page, he made this decision in the hope that one day he will be able to return back and serve his people.
Shashkin served as minister of corrections and education at various times and as defence minister to this day.
"I have always observed the law and was responsible for my duties. I have no regrets about any decisions made over the last four years and am ready to answer all questions put to me," Shashkin says.
He states that he respects the choice of the Georgian people, but he and the new majority have completely different values.
According to the ministry, prior to the parliamentary elections, Georgian Defence Minister Dmitri Shashkin, left for a working visit to the U.S.and did not return.
Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 1. Around 14 parties and two political blocs participated in the elections.
According to full the preliminary data of the Georgian Central Election Commission, the Georgian Dream coalition will receive 85 seats in the parliament, and the United National Movement, 65.
The leader of the Georgian Dream coalition has introduced new candidates for ministerial posts in the new Georgian government.
