Tbilisi city court suspended the powers of the chief prosecutor joint staff of Georgian armed forces Giorgi Kalandadze and a brigade commander Zurab Shamatava.
Kalandadze and Shamatava removed from their posts before the end of the investigation. The first trial of the court hearing the case of abuse of power by Kalandadze and Shamatava will be held on December 29.
They together with the former Minister of Defence and Interior Bacho Akhalaia charged under part 3 of Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. This carries 5 to 8 years imprisonment.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili charges Giorgi Kalandadze to continue his duties on Saturday.
