BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar. 4

By Maryana Akhmedova – Trend:

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) explores possibilities for further assisting Georgia to ‘build back better’ in response to the COVID-19 crisis, Daniel Quadbeck, the Head of the Eastern Europe and South Caucasus Division of Global Relations Secretariat at OECD told Trend.

According to the OECD representative, the main milestone in cooperation with Georgia in 2022 will be the OECD Eurasia Week, a high-level platform for the exchange of views and policy experiences on the major economic challenges facing the Eurasia region, which will be co-hosted by the Government of Georgia for the first time.

OECD stands ready to further broaden cooperation with Georgia by implementing a number of obligations set by Georgia’s association agenda with the EU, Quadbeck said.

“In particular, potential areas for further co-operation could include policies related to the governance of state-owned enterprises, investment policy and competition policy,” the OECD representative noted.

Additional areas that could be explored further to support Georgia’s inclusive economic growth include education and skills policy, as well as labor market reforms, he concluded.
