The UN Security Council discussed Tuesday a letter from UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan, who gave an overview of developments in Syria, a spokesman said, dpa reported.
Annan will speak to the 15-nation council on Thursday through a videoconference to provide details of the status of his plan that called for the Syrian government and armed opposition to cease all fighting by 6 am local time (0300 GMT) on the same day.
"The letter provides an overview of the situation and Mr Annan will give more details on Thursday," Martin Nesirky said.
