Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian village near the West Bank city of Nablus on Saturday, leaving a Palestinian youth injured, witnesses said, Xinhua reported.

Najeh Safadi, 22, was shot in the head and seriously wounded, according to the witnesses and medical sources.

The settlers came from a nearby settlement and also set fire to crops in the fields. Villagers hurled rocks and empty bottles at the settlers accompanied by Israeli army forces who fired tear gas at the Palestinians.

About half a million Israeli settlers live in the West Bank, which is also home to 2.7 million Palestinians. Israel occupied the West Bank in 1967.
