A bomb blast in central Iraq wounded 24 Pakistani Muslim Shiite pilgrims on Sunday, a security source said, DPA reported.

The roadside bomb targeted the bus carrying the pilgrims in Falluja city, located around 60 kilometres west of Baghdad.

The attack is the second to target Shiite pilgrims, after a bomb killed three Lebanese pilgrims in the mainly Sunni Anbar province, which is a former al-Qaeda stronghold.

Iraq is home to important Shiite holy shrines and pilgrims have been regular targets of bomb attacks by al-Qaeda-linked groups.
