( AP ) - More than 100 Israeli police investigators raided government buildings and private offices Sunday in connection with criminal probes of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, a police spokesman said.
The investigators were searching for evidence related to three separate investigations of Olmert, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. They fanned out early Sunday in more than 20 locations, including the Industry and Trade Ministry, the Postal Authority and Jerusalem City Hall, he said.
Olmert is facing investigations in real estate and political corruption cases.
One involves suspicions that he steered a government grant to a friend and arranged improper political appointments while serving as trade minister earlier this decade.
Another is tied to allegations that he tried to rig the sale of Israel's second-largest bank in favor of two associates while he was finance minister.
And a third concerns his involvement in a real estate deal in which he is suspected of buying a Jerusalem home at a substantial discount from a developer in exchange for arranging construction permits for the builder.
Olmert has denied all the charges. No comment was immediately available from his office Sunday.
