French President Nicolas Sarkozy has attained a record level of unpopularity,
according to a poll made public on Monday.
In the survey conducted by BVA Opinion for the weekly L'Express, 64 per cent of
respondents said they had a "bad opinion" of Sarkozy, a rise of eight
percentage points over last month.
BVA Opinion head Jerome Sainte-Marie was quoted on the website of the daily Le
Figaro as saying that the level of bad opinions was the highest ever registered
by his institute since it began tracking the popularity of presidents in 1981.
The survey was carried out on April 22-24 using a representative sample of 994
people 18 years of age and older.
