Iraqi officials say at least seven people have been killed in the bombing of a minibus during morning rush hour in a mainly Shiite area in Baghdad, AP reported.

Police and hospital officials say the bomb was planted under the minibus in Abu Dshir.

The officials said 24 people were also wounded. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to release the information.

Abu Dshir is a Shiite enclave in the mainly Sunni area of Dora in Baghdad.

Both areas have faced brutal sectarian violence in past years but have seen a sharp decline in violence following a Sunni revolt against insurgent groups such as al-Qaida in Iraq and a Shiite militia cease-fire.
