France sent to Russia a plane for tackling forest and peat bog fires seized the European part of the country, Russian Government's press service said on Saturday.

Earlier on Saturday Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart, Francois Fillon held telephone talks. Fillon said France would assist Russia in tackling the wildfires and send a plane to the scenes of the disaster, RIA Novosti reported.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi also offered his country's help by sending to Russia several planes for extinguishing fires.

The area of the fires across Central Russia has increased to 190,000 hectares over the last day with 564 hotspots registered by the NASA satellites.
