President Hamid Karzai is expected to announce the first regions to transfer responsibility for security from NATO-led troops to Afghan forces on Tuesday, Xinhua reported.

It was supposed that Karzai would announce the security transition process on the first day of Afghan New Year falling on March 21 Monday.

The Afghan president said in his speech to mark International Women's Day on March 8 that "security transition process to Afghan forces begins on the first day of Afghan New Year on March 21."

However, Vice President Mohammad Karim Khlili said in his speech to mark the Afghan New Year celebration on Monday that president Karzai would announce security transition process on Tuesday.

Nato has announced to begin withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2011 and complete the pullout at the end of 2014.
