Next NATO summit set for September 4-5 in Wales
Britain will host next year's NATO summit on September 4-5 in southern Wales, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen announced Friday, dpa reported.
The summit is to be held in the city of Newport.
Rasmussen said the summit would mark the end of the NATO-led ISAF mission in Afghanistan, while NATO would "take further steps to modernize our alliance" and "reaffirm the bond between Europe and North America that is the source of our strength, our security and our success."
As one of NATO's founding members, Britain had always been a "strong contributor to NATO operations as well as to our political debate," he added.
