Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki was due to arrive in the Turkish capital Ankara later on Wednesday for talks with Turkish leaders.

High on the agenda of al-Maliki's talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan was expected to be US-Iraq-Turkey cooperation against the separatist Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) which uses mountainous northern Iraq as a base from which to launch attacks inside Turkey.

Al-Maliki was expected to be accompanied by six ministers during his two-day visit to Ankara, reported dpa.
