Turkey reveals date of testing Ankara-Sivas high-speed railway

Testing of a high-speed railway, which is being built between Ankara and Turkey’s Sivas province, will begin in 2020, a source in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

The source noted that the construction of the high-speed railway is completed by 90 percent and the work is being carried out on schedule.

The length of the high-speed railway will be 603 kilometers, according to the source.

Presently, the length of high-speed railway lines in Turkey is 1,213 kilometers and construction of 4,000 kilometers of railways is underway.

Research is also being conducted for the construction of additional 5,000 kilometers of railway lines.

Turkey’s first railway was built in Izmir province in 1860. Its length was 357 kilometers.
