Turkey announces cargo shipment data from its Mersin port

The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkey’s Mersin port in the Mersin province amounted to 20.2 million tons in the first seven months of 2020, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

The ministry said that ships flying the Turkish flag handled over 1.1 million tons of goods via Mersin port over the specifying period, while ships flying the flags of other countries – 19 million tons.

Around 270,888 tons of cargo were moved in transit through Mersin port during the mentioned period, the ministry added.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 209.8 million tons from January through July 2020.

Over the mentioned period, ships flying the Turkish flag shipped over 16.9 million tons of goods.

In the first seven months of this year, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports by ships flying their countries' flags made up 8 million tons, while by ships flying the flags of other countries – 184.8 million tons, the ministry said.

During this period, more than 41.8 million tons of cargo were handled in transit through the ports of Turkey.

In July 2020, the volume of cargo shipment through the Turkish ports amounted to 30.2 million tons. In this month, ships flying the Turkish flag transported over 2.6 million tons of cargo.

Cargo transshipment via the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags amounted to 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 26.5 million tons.

Over 5.6 million tons of goods were transshipped in transit through the Turkish ports in July 2020.
