( Cihan ) - Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari will visit Turkey on Thursday to invite Turkey to an international conference on Iraq to be held in Egpyt.

Zebari will arrive in Turkish capital Thursday afternoon and meet his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul to invite him to take part in the meeting.

However, FM Gul is unlikely to attend the meeting since he was named as the Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party's (AKP) nominee to run for the president. The first round of the presidential vote is scheduled to be held on Friday, April 27 and the second round will be held on Wednesday, May 2.

The international conference on Iraq's security will be held in Egyptian resort of Sharm al Sheik on May 3-4.

The proposed meeting aims to bring together foreign ministers of Iraq, its neighbors and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council as well as the Group of Eight (G-8) industrialized nations.

Istanbul, Turkey's biggest city, was expected to host the meeting on April 10, however, Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced that the meeting was postponed just days before the specified date.

A previous meeting at ambassador level was held in Iraqi capital Baghdad on March 10 and ended in a promising note.
