Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR plans to pump about 80,000 tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in May 2016, a source in the company told Trend April 28.

"It is expected to transport nearly 80,000 tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in May, 2016," said the source.

In total, SOCAR is expected to transport nearly 400,000 tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in Q2, 2016.

SOCAR transported 1.27 million tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in 2015 as compared to 932,160 tons in 2014.

The Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,147 kilometers long. The length of its Azerbaijani section is 231 kilometers, while the Russian section is 916 kilometers long.

The pipeline was filled with oil in October 1996. Its highest capacity stands at 105,000 barrels a day.

An agreement was signed in February 2016 by SOCAR and Russian company Transneft, under which SOCAR will in 2016 transport 1.3 million tons of oil produced by it at onshore and offshore fields via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.
