Armenia's main aim is to harm, through provocative acts, the process of negotiation on settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and to keep the current status quo, which is based on occupation and aggression, said Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

Mammadyarov made the remarks at a meeting with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier Sept. 29, said Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, held as part of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly, Mammadyarov said the armed forces of Armenia should be firstly withdrawn from the occupied Azerbaijani lands in order to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Noting the necessity to put an end to the occupation and aggression, Mammadyarov said the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan should be secured within Azerbaijan's internationally recognized borders.

The minister also noted that the aggression policy of Armenia poses a threat to peace and security in the region.

Mammadyarov said all the members of the OSCE Minsk Group should be active and directly participate in the conflict's settlement.

He further highlighted a need to improve the OSCE and its structures, including the ODIHR.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said for his part that such issues as the renewal of the OSCE will be the agenda priority.

Mammadyarov further said the European Parliament's recent resolution with regard to Azerbaijan is groundless and biased.

He also said some forces in the European Parliament are trying to inflict damage to the relations between Azerbaijan and the EU with help of the mentioned resolution.

During the meeting, the parties also shared opinions on the Syrian crisis and its consequences, as well as migration and other issues.
