Viktor Yanukovych, who previously declared his legitimacy as Ukraine's president, said it is necessary to investigate acts of violence in Ukraine under general monitoring of authorities, opposition and the Council of Europe, RIA Novosti reported on Feb. 28.
"It is important to conduct an impartial investigation of acts of violence under the monitoring of authorities, the opposition and the Council of Europe," Yanukovych said at a press conference.
He also believes it is necessary to immediately deliver illegal weapons to the internal affairs bodies and release administrative and public buildings, unblocking all streets, parks and squares.
"The armed men must leave the streets, normal life of citizens of Ukraine must be ensured," he said.
